Throughout the years, MTN has been actively holding various projects across the country and also in other parts of Africa. These projects were aimed to better the lives of communities in which MTN operates. Together with the public, we strive to provide a better life foundation for the people Ghana and the rest of Africa.

ICT

GHANA MULTIMEDIA INCUBATOR CENTRE /MTN GHANA FOUNDATION INCUBATION PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMME

The Ministry of Communications through NITA with sponsorship from MTN Ghana Foundation, is sponsoring 10 new start-up businesses that have ground breaking and innovative ICT ideas to be incubated into viable companies. This is in line with a partnership initiative between the Ghana Multimedia Incubator Centre (GMIC) and MTN Foundation.

The Ghana Multimedia Incubator Centre (GMIC) was established by the Government of Ghana in 2005 and is mandated to promote ICT entrepreneurship development through business incubation. It also provides training in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO). GMIC currently operates under the National Information Technology Agency (NITA).

In view of this, NITA is inviting prospective young entrepreneurs with innovative ideas/solutions to submit applications for consideration into the GMIC/MTN Ghana Foundation Incubation Partnership Programme.

Eligible persons

  1. Final year students in tertiary Institutions who have ICT related innovative ideas
  2. Members of the general public who have ICT related innovative ideas that can be developed into viable commercial products/services

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Have an innovative ICT-based start-up company or individual(s) with concepts/solutions or prototypes which can be developed into products or services.
  2. The start-up or idea should have high potential commercial viability for growth and business success.
  3. The business idea should have the potential for job creation and the ability to provide income.
  4. Have compatible business ideals with the incubator programme and facility.

Benefits to successful applicants:

The successful applicants will have access to the following

  • Office equipment – computers, printers, photocopiers, scanners etc.
  • Shared resource facilities
  • Coaching
  • Mentorship
  • Conference facilities
  • TWO YEARS of access to these facilities for successful applicants to develop their ideas into viable businesses at NO COST to them.

MTN / AED Basic Schools Project Northern Project was aimed at improving numeracy & literacy in 5 schools in the Northern Region through capacity building for teachers & provision of Learning aids & materials.
Akatsi Basic School Project Volta Project entails the construction of a 3-unit classroom block, office & store.
Tsito Senior High Technical Library Project Volta Construction of a 108-seater library for the Tsito Senior High & Technical School in Partnership with the Technical Skills department of the school to fulfill their project work practical.
Regional Interschools Spelling Bee-2010 Volta Project entails sponsorship of representatives of 20 schools to be part of the national competition.
KNUST Library Project Ashanti Project entails the refurbishment of the medical school library.
Sefwi Abono School Project Western Project entails the construction of a 3-unit classroom block, office & store.
Saunders Community School Project Brong Ahafo Construction of a 6-unit classroom block, office & store.
Attuna DC Community School Brong Ahafo Construction of a 6-unit classroom block, office & store.
Abolove/Nolope ICT Project Volta Region Construction of a 20-seater ICT centre for the twin community.
Juaso Nkyesa School Project Ashanti Construction of a 6-unit classroom block, office & store.
Ankaful Prisons Project Central Project entails the provision of a 5-seater ICT facility for the wardens & inmates.
Akropong School for the blind Eastern It was a 3-year support from 2010. Construction of a Boys Dormitory. Provision of 20 Desktops & refurbishment works at the ICT facility & provision of a school bus.
Asempanaye Community School Project Eastern Partial funding in partnership with Rotary to provide a 3-unit classroom block.
Kodjonya School Project Eastern Construction of a 6-unit classroom block, a store & refurbishment of an existing structure.
NAWAG BGREAT project Upper West Literacy & Numeracy project by Nadowli Women Advocacy Group (NAWAG).
St. Charles School Project Upper East Project entails the construction of a 20-seater ICT centre with office & store
Zujung School Project Northern Construction of a 6-unit classroom block & a store.
Tamale Secondary School Project Northern Project entails the construction of a KVIP, provision of laboratory equipment / facilities and constructing streetlights to address the security issues of the school.
Obeyeyie School Project Greater Accra Construction of a 4-unit classroom block and a store.
Kanvilli JHS Project Northern Construction of a 3-unit classroom block & store with ICT Centre.
Akyawkrom ICT Project Ashanti Construction of a 20-seater ICT centre.
Ahantaman Senior High School Project Western Construction of a 6-unit classroom block, office & store.
Western Regional Library Project Western Rehabilitation of the Western Regional Library & Installation of a 20-seater ICT facility.
Srafa Immuna School Project Central Refurbishment of a 6-unit classroom block and construction of an ICT block.
Micro Entreprise Pilot Project Central Establishment of a rural enterprise for young people to venture into local business.
University of Cape coast Project Central Project entails the re-roofing of the University library.
Nima Cluster of Schools Project Greater Accra Project entails provision of computers, furniture & library.
College of Surgeons & Physicians Greater Accra Provision of ICT infrastructure to aid doctors in research & correspondence as well as facilitate telemedicine.
Madiba School Project Greater Accra Construction of a 3-unit classroom block at Baba Yara community school in Madiba.
MTN Joy Read 100 Project Greater Accra Region Reading Clubs established in 5 disadvantaged communities in Accra.
Owerimman School Project Ashanti Construction of a boys dormitory block for the school.
Kpanfa School Project Upper West Construction of a 6-unit classroom block office & store.

Health

Project Region Description
Korle Bu Maternity Ward Greater Accra Project involved the physical refurbishment of the 2nd floor Labour Ward & the provision of equipment such as delivery beds and theatre machines.
Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital Greater Accra Partial funding for the construction of an intensive care unit for the hospital.
Wassa Dunkwa Health Post Western Project involved the provision of some essential hospital Equipment such as examination couch, weighing scale, etc to make the facility functional.
Kotokuom Health Centre Ashanti Project involves the provision of medical equipment to make the health post functional. Equipment include delivery bed, sterilizers, vaccine fridge, etc.
Workshops on drug abuse & HIV for SHS Greater Accra Northern Central Western Project involved the facilitation of workshops for 500 SHS students at each location on HIV AIDS & Drug Abuse.
Northern Ghana Water & Sanitation Project Upper West Project was in partnership with Concern Universal & Pronet Ghana where 20 boreholes were drilled for communities in the Lawra & Wa East Districts. Fora on sanitation & hygiene were also held in the locations.

Kwahu Government Hospital Eastern Project entails the donation of an infant incubator to the hospital as part of Easter Festival celebrations.
Kpedze Health Centre Volta Project entailed the physical refurbishment of the General OPD & maternity wings of the health centre after is was gutted down by fire.
Shama District Health Project Western Project entails the provision of mobile haemoglobinometers, Ultra sound Machine, Call Credits, Desktop Computer & revised printed pregnancy registers to support their Pregnancy Register & Handing Over System (PRHOS) project to address maternal health issues in the district.
KNUST Hospital Ashanti Project entails the donation of an infant incubator to the hospital.
Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital Western Project entails the physical refurbishment of the labour ward, lying in ward & the expansion of the antenatal unit to ease congestion.
Twifo Praso Government Hospital Project Central Project entails the construction of a new 15-bed children’s ward for the hospital to ease the congestion in the existing ward.
Ejisu Government Hospital Ashanti Project entails the construction of a 20-bed Maternity Ward and theatre and fully equipping it with beds, incubators, theatre equipment etc. This has helped to ease the congestion of the maternity department.
Fomena Health Centre Ashanti Project entails the construction of a 20-bed male & female ward & theatre for the health centre.
Sene District Hospital Brong Ahafo Project entails the construction of a 30-bed male & female ward and provision of bedside cabinets plus drip stands.
Kpeve Tongu Water Project Volta Project entails the construction of a pipeline in partnership with Ghana Water Company and Plan Ghana to extend potable water to the Kpeve Tongu community.
Kintampo Water Project Brong Ahafo This project was in partnership with United Way Ghana to provide a mechanised borehole for twin communities Pamdu/Paninamisa.
Tamale Teaching Hospital Project Northern Project entails the construction of a neonatal intensive care unit for the hospital.
Zuarungu Health Centre Upper East Project entails the total refurbishment & re-engineering of the facility to make it functional.
Azuribisi CHPS Project Upper East Project entails the construction of a Community Health Based Planning & Services Compound (CHPS) for the Azuribisi Community to cater for their basic health needs.
Atua Government Hospital Project Eastern Project entails the construction of a casualty ward/block for the Atua Government Hospital.

Economic Empowerment

Project Region Description

Enablis Project Greater Accra And Northern Capacity building & creation of opportunities for Ghanaian graduates to develop their entrepreneurial skills.
MTN Hitmakers
Hit Makers is a TV reality show that seeks to unearth new musical talents and performers who have composed their own music.
Local Agency Scheme (LAS)
The project involves the provision of capital equipment, machinery and logistics as well as stocks to scale up the operations of three micro enterprise units in order to increase their revenue and income.
Alternative Livelihood Project
An initiative of the MTN Group aimed at providing a decent means of livelihood for persons with disabilities (PWDs). 150 tri-cycles were provided and they are motorised and powered by solar panels.
Tizaadini Shea Butter Production Project
Project involved provision of seed capital of GHC500 to each woman. The objective is aimed at transforming the lives of beneficiary communities.
