1. What is Webguard?

Webguard is a built-in online protection service for MTN Home Broadband customers.

It helps block unsafe websites, scam links, and malicious domains before they load.

2. What value does Webguard provide to customers?

  • Protects families and children from harmful content
  • Reduces risk of fraud, phishing, and scam sites
  • Provides peace of mind when browsing at home
  • Works automatically across all connected devices

3. Do I need to install an app or software?

No.
Webguard works automatically on the network, so there is no app, download, or installation required.

4. How does Webguard work?

Webguard operates at the network level.
It detects and blocks harmful websites and links before they can load on any connected device.

5. What happens when a website is blocked?

Customers will see a warning or blocking page explaining that the site may be unsafe.
They may still have the option to proceed at their own risk. If customers choose to proceed on an unsafe site, they will not receive the warning page again when they revisit it again.

6. Does Webguard protect all devices in my home?

Yes.
All devices connected to the MTN Home Wi-Fi (phones, laptops, tablets, smart TVs, etc.) benefit from protection.

7. Does Webguard stop SMS scams?

No, it does not block SMS messages themselves.
However, if a customer clicks on a malicious link from an SMS, Webguard can block access to the unsafe website.

Pricing & Subscription

8. Is Webguard free?

Yes, initially.
Customers receive a 3-month free trial to experience the service.

9. Why is MTN offering this for free?

MTN wants customers to experience the value of safer internet browsing first.
After the trial period, customers can decide whether to continue with a paid subscription.

10. Did I subscribe to this? I didn’t request it.

Webguard is automatically enabled as part of a free protection trial on MTN Home Broadband.
Customers are not charged during the free period.

11. Will I be charged after the 3-month trial?

No automatic charges.
Customers will be prompted to opt in and subscribe if they wish to continue after the trial ends.

12. What will I pay after the free trial?

After the 3-month free trial, customers can choose to subscribe to continue using Webguard.

  • Aura Basic: GHS 5 per month
  • Aura Premium: GHS 12 per month

Customers will only be charged if they opt in to continue after the trial.

Privacy & Control

13. Can customers turn Webguard off?

Yes
Customers can choose to opt out or not continue after the free period.
14. Will Webguard slow down my internet?

No.
Webguard operates at the network level and is designed to protect users without affecting browsing speed.

15. Does Webguard monitor what I browse?

No.
Webguard focuses on blocking harmful and unsafe websites. It does not monitor personal browsing activity or track user data for individual use.

16. Is my data safe with Webguard?

Yes.
The service is designed to enhance online safety while maintaining customer privacy and security.

Support & Limitations

17. Does Webguard work outside my home Wi-Fi?

No.
Webguard only protects devices connected to the MTN Home Fibre network. It does not apply to mobile data or other Wi-Fi networks.

18. What if a safe website is blocked by mistake?

Customers can proceed at their own risk or contact MTN support to review the blocked site

19. Why should I keep Webguard after the free trial?
